Eyelash extensions originated in the United Kingdom in 1902, when the German born hair specialist & inventor ‘Charles Nessler’ (aka Karl) applied for the first patent, he termed “A New or Improved Method of and Means for the Manufacture of Artificial Eyebrows, Eyelashes and the like.” Within a year he was already offering the artificial eyelashes from his London salon.
Eventually, others followed in Nessler’s footsteps across the globe, including America, and Poland where the founder of ‘Max Factor’ joined a growing list of inventors in search for the ultimate solution to eyelash elongation. However, it was not until the 1930’s , when eyelash enhancement’s popularity amongst Hollywood actresses was picked up on by the media including a feature spread in the highly regarded Vogue magazine. Famous for paving the way for fashion trends and fashion houses, Vogue’s seal of approval for eyelash extensions, inspired fashionista’s and major influence in the mainstreams perception of eyelash enhancement.
