Since the beginning of time, women have sought methods of beautification, beyond the physical benefits what is the psychosocial motivation behind this historical trend?

Traditional research attributed this motivation, to women’s desire to attract a mate or life partner, whilst more recent research posits that in fact, women are driven by the inner ‘feel good factor’ associated with feeling confident with their physical image, alongside influences from social & personal sources. Furthermore, the eyes play a key role in our self-presentation to others, because feeling confident when engaging in eye contact with others effects our social & personal relationships, influencing others impressions of how confident & transparent we are in our communications.
